Take A Dive Into Life Coaching
Have you ever wanted to try out Life Coaching? Maybe you are not really sure what it will offer you. Or how the investment in yourself will payoff….. Well read ahead for a very small sample of life coaching. I hope you will get on board and sail away with me towards your dreams.
When I think about serving my clients I think about how I can best serve them. One of the things that will come up when engaging with a client is the idea that the client knows they want to work on personal growth, however they are not sure exactly what that means or where to start. This is where my work as a coach gets super exciting! Together we get to figure out where to go with this idea of “Hell Yes- I’m in!!!!! But now what”. When this happens together we get to explore so many possibilities! With so many possibilities in front of us, we have options and options are a great thing to have in life.
One of the ways I like to dive into where our coaching relationship will start is by asking two BIG questions. So lets dive in!
The first, have you ever considered discovering your values?
And the second, what is your 5 year plan?
Have you ever considered discovering your values?
This questions comes from a great coach, Ajit Nawalkha of Mind Valley. So thank you Ajit.
If the answer to this is an immediate “yes” and the client knows their core values then we name them and talk about if and how they show up in their daily life. This allows us to explore if these are truly their core values. If not what are they? Or are these values that they aspire to incorporate into who they are and how they interact with the world around them.
If the answer to this question is something more like “yes, well no, maybe but not really.” Then this gives us the opportunity to have truly meaningful conversation about who they are and what matters most to them. We look at what is important to them when they are making daily decisions, big decisions and everything in between. Together we get to explore so much about them as an individual and work to define what a life well lived looks like for them.
SO EXCITING!!!! (My clients are amazing individuals and never cease to amaze me.)
What is your 5 year plan? This is the second question I like to ask my clients and one that many do not have an answer. I always laugh a little to myself when I ask this question because my partner would kind of make fun of me when we first met because I told him I always have a 5 year plan. Reflecting back I realize this was a great thing and is necessary for any growth minded individual to move towards their goals and dreams.
This questions really speaks to long term goals. You may have heard this saying attributed to Yogi Berra, “If you don’t know where you are going, you’ll end up someplace else.” Defining where you want to be in 5 years from now helps to lay the ground work for how to get yourself there. This is not something set in stone, but a map that allows you to pivot and take unexpected routes to even bigger goals then you originally considered. It allows you to reflect and adjust your sails or even plot a new course.
So I write this to challenge you to take a dive into life coaching by answering these questions for yourself.
Have you ever considered discovering your values?
What is your 5 year plan?
What have you learned about yourself after answering these questions? How does it impact your life? And where will this knowledge lead you?
